Hi there! I’m Ashlyn with Fixed Fee IT, Portland Oregon’s best IT support company. Welcome back to our series on everything you need to know about SharePoint. Today, we’re walking through how to save attachments from Outlook to SharePoint. If you’re looking for a specific section of this tutorial, hover over the progress bar and select the part you need. Otherwise, let’s get started.

How to Save Outlook Attachments to SharePoint

Okay, so we’re going to start by heading into our Outlook email inbox. Here’s an email I just received with a pdf I would like to save to SharePoint. First, we’re going to download that file right onto our desktop. You can technically save it anywhere on your computer, but saving it to the desktop is easiest for me. Now, you can see I have that file sitting on my desktop.

Let’s head over to our SharePoint site, where I want to save that pdf. We’re going to go to the correct folder in the documents. Now we’re going to go back to our desktop, grab that file, and literally drag and drop it into SharePoint. It really is that easy.

You can do the same thing will large groups of files, too. One thing to note, though, is that any edits to the file on your desktop will NOT be made to the SharePoint file. You will need to open the SharePoint file in your web app or desktop app in order to make any edits. If you need help with that, watch our tutorial on opening SharePoint files.

And that’s all I have for you in this section. Now you should be able to save attachments from Outlook to SharePoint. Check out our other SharePoint tutorials in our playlist. If you still have questions, feel free to reach out to our team at Fixed Fee IT. Thanks for watching!
